TTI-FSS One of Few U.S.-Based Companies Equipped to Meet Global Demands for Modular Fabrication

With broadened capabilities at its newly opened facility at Port Tampa Bay in Gibsonton, Florida, Tampa Tank Inc.-Florida Structural Steel (TTI-FSS) has entered the large shop-fabricated vessel market.

The company expanded its operations at Port Tampa Bay to pursue unique projects in the oil and gas and power industries for shop-fabricated modular spheres up to 80 feet in diameter, large liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) bullet vessels, large butane bullet vessels, large LPG butane bullet vessels and large heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) stacks up to 280 feet long and 18 feet in diameter. The expansion occupies over 100,000 square feet for fabrication in two buildings on 25 acres and has direct access to a 37-foot deep-water shipping berth.

These capabilities, along with the company’s recently acquired American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Division 2 certification, which allows it to design, fabricate, inspect, test and certify pressure vessels with high stress intensity values, make TTI-FSS one of the few U.S.-based vessel companies equipped to meet the global demands for modular fabrication.

According to CEO David Hale, “This facility allows us to capture new opportunities in modular construction and large pressure vessel construction, all of which can weigh into the millions of pounds. It also allows safer, more efficient operations on these large assemblies, while giving us direct access to a deep water berth for more efficient barge shipping for our customers.”
